Description : Baalbec, rovine dal tempio di Bacco
Oil painting on canvas. It is a copy of the work created in 1840 by David Roberts, considered the "Scottish Canaletto" for his very meticulous landscape paintings and plays on luministic effects, and who specialized in particular in orientalist painting. The work portrays the Temple of Bacchus of the Baalbek complex in Lebanon, a monumental complex that contains several temples and ruins, a UNESCO heritage site: the imposing ruins of the temple stand out against the blue sky, while several small Arab figures go about their daily lives among large structures. It is presented in a stylish gilded frame.
