Description : Il suonatore di zampogna
Oil on cardboard applied to canvas. Signed lower right. Tito Pellicciotti, originally from Abruzzo, was trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples under the guidance of Filippo Palizzi, from whom he derived his attention to animal figures, which he reproduced both in the calm of the stable and free and grazing. He also paid attention to the rural world of his land by representing rustic and stable interiors, peasants and shepherdesses, as well as tavern interiors animated by popular figures and "en plein aire" glimpses of the street with onion sellers, itinerant musicians and umbrella sellers with pipes fumigants; and still pastoral caravans, hunting scenes and some delicate maternities. This little picture fits well into Pellicciotti's typical production: inside a tavern a bagpiper player is performing, accompanied by his little son on the zufolo. The work is presented in a period frame.
