Description : Calle a Venezia
Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. The Neapolitan artist Felice Giordano established himself as a landscape painter and in particular for the glimpses of his beloved Capri, the island where he lived all his life, but he also dedicated himself to marine still lifes, with fish, mussels, octopuses, and glimpses of Naples. Moreover, Giordano traveled a lot, and also portrayed the places of his travels, often including Venice and Paris. Trained at the school of Antonino Leto (also a lover of Capri!), he inspired his realism made up of plays of light and colour. In this Venetian foreshortening the effect of the reflections in the water of the sky and houses stands out, in plays of light rendered through broad and overlapping brushstrokes. The work is presented in a frame.
