Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. Orfeo Tamburi was a multifaceted and prolific Italian artist. A draughtsman, painter and journalist, he even tried his hand at acting (Roberto Rossellini's The Envy). In his pictorial career, Tamburi investigated the expressive possibilities of matter and attempted to overcome the figurative-non-figurative antithesis. The figurative, present in his early production, is gradually abandoned in favour of a geometrialisation of reality, a flattening of forms that does not, however, preclude considerable expressive power. Recurring in his production are city views, often Parisian but not only, characterised precisely by the precise lines of the shapes of the houses but also of the windows (Tamburi has also been defined as a 'painter of windows'), which contribute to emphasising precisely the geometric vision of reality. The work is presented in a frame.
