Oil on canvas cardboard. On the back there is a declaration of authenticity by his son Mario Acerbi, also a painter, who also defines the title. This is a study for the painting of the Madonna di Caravaggio, created by Ezechiele Acerbi for the church of Santa Maria in Betlem, parish church of Borgo Ticino in Pavia. It is the village in which the artist lived, and to which he was very attached, so much so that he made it the favorite subject of his production. His son Mario also declares that the face used to paint the shepherdess is that of the artist's own daughter. The work is presented in a frame.
