Description : L'ora del tè

Watercolor on paper. Signed and dated lower right. On the back, exhibition gallery label citing the provenance of the painting. Brother of the painter and antiquarian Attilio Simonetti, who brought back oriental objects from his travels, Ettore Simonetti specialized in orientalist painting, despite never having visited those exotic places. Furthermore, Ettore was also passionate about the fashion of the eighteenth century and in watercolour, his favorite technique, he reconstructed rich interiors, with characters of the nobility and their courts, dressed in period costumes. This small watercolor fits perfectly into this production, depicting a nobleman drinking his tea sitting in the garden. Presented in a stylish frame.
