Oil on cardboard. Signed lower right. A leading exponent of nineteenth-century Lombard painting which was always linked to the love of "truth", Pompeo Mariani was also called "the Italian impressionist", due to the influence of French impressionism and those experiences in his works, not only cultural events, which constituted the Belle Époque era, which the artist lived between Milan, Bordighera, Nice and Montecarlo. Presented here is a small portrait of an elderly lady.
