Pastels on cardboard. signed lower left. The Ticino painter and illustrator Luigi Rossi specialized in genre scenes in a social context, which made him appreciated, characterized not so much by a desire for an explicit social denunciation, but rather by a melancholy and nostalgia for a peasant world that has now disappeared. Furthermore, he also created landscapes and various portraits: his intense devotion to his family and particular attention to children translated in the early twentieth century into a sequence of portraits of his daughter, in different stages of life. This portrait of a young girl could also be part of this series, portraying her teenage daughter. The work is presented in a contemporary frame.
