Description : Paesaggio orientale con figure

Oil painting on canvas. Probable French school of the 19th century. The landscape presents a barren countryside, near the coast, with blue peaks in the background; on the left, in the background, a typically Arab town. In the foreground on the right, some figures in transit on the road, in oriental clothes, although the woman with the child on her shoulder recalls in her non-traditionally Islamic clothes her belonging to the Berber population. The group of travelers is controlled by a soldier wearing the uniform of the French army, who takes the scene back to a former French colony in North Africa, in Morocco or Tunisia. Relined, the painting is presented in a gilded frame from the late 19th century.
