Description : La magnifica preda
Multiple print. Author's signature in pencil lower right; serial number 112/125 bottom left, also with embossed stamp of the Rotella Foundation. The seridécollage - a technique developed by Mimo Rotella starting from the 1950s, consisting of the superimposition of two serigraphs on which the artist intervened to create the tears by hand - reproduces the poster of the dramatic western "The Magnificent Prey"(1954), directed by Otto Preminger and starring Marilyn Monroe and Robert Mitchum. The work features the artist's signature at the bottom right, the initials PA (author's proof) and the stamp of the Mimmo Rotella Foundation at the bottom left. Mimmo Rotella linked his figure to the Nouveau Réalisme movement and international Pop Art. In the creation of his works, Rotella prefers the décollage technique, but also creates assemblages and ready-mades with objects purchased from second-hand dealers such as bottle caps, ropes, wicker baskets and pieces of fabric. Since the beginning of the sixties, his works have been characterized by the presence of stars of the silver screen and music such as Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, Marlon Brando and Elvis Presley. The work is presented in a frame.
