Oil painting on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. The Pavia painter Primo Carena dedicated much of his production to still lifes, which refer to the theme of "vanitas vanitatum", wanting to express, with different nuances over the years, the melancholy of the transience of life. Pomegranates are often depicted: particularly in the 1980s, as in this painting, the fruits are immersed in a silent atmosphere with dark, almost metaphysical tones. The painting is presented in a frame.
