Oil on cardboard. 19th century Flemish school. In a street that runs along a canal, flanked by typical Nordic houses, a man who sells poultry is offering a hen to the housekeeper who is doing the shopping; next to the farmer, the cages in which he keeps the animals, behind him a turkey; a dog looks curiously at the chicken. The scene appears lively and bright. It is presented in a coeval frame, adapted to the painting.
