Acrylic on paper applied to plywood. Signed and dated lower center. Since the 1960s, the color red had become central in Bernard Aubertin's works. He is in fact considered the "monochrome painter": starting from 1958 he began to create his famous red monochrome canvases, the so-called Tableaux Feu (fire paintings), often animating them with various elements, with nails (Tableaux Clous), wire ( Tableaux Fil de Fer), matches (Parcours d'Allumettes) and various materials, from candles to iron nets. In his metaphysical conception of painting, through red he intended to transpose the energy of the soul, the spiritual being, onto the canvas. In the last years of his production, the red color of the monochromes was replaced by white, black and gold, but Aubertin always worked on monochromes. The work is presented in a plexiglass case.
