Description
Empire queen size canopy bed, with lacquered and painted wrought iron and sheet metal structure, Genoa, early 19th century. Headboard crowned with anthemium decoration and festoon with curls at the ends, held by a pair of rosettes; the footboard is instead decorated with a neoclassical vase from which leafy elements and racemes branch out, the latter ending in golden swan heads that grasp tulip leaves and flowers with their mouths. The parts just described are also embellished with various floral and vegetal elements painted in gold and silver colours. Bronze knobs. The bed was born without the canopy structure, which was added later.
