Oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. Painter and sculptor originally from Viggiù, Antonio Piatti stood out above all for his figure painting and portraits; close to the Lombard Scapigliatura from which he drew his sfumato style without sharp contours, Piatti looked closely at the elegance of fashion in portraying his figures, full of interior expressiveness and atmospheres created by the lights of the settings. The work is presented in a contemporary frame.
