Description

MOMO Prototype Steering Wheel. MOMO is an Italian design company, manufacturer of alloy wheels and accessories for cars and motorcycles, including racing ones. The acronym MOMO stands for Moretti-Monza because the first race was held on this racetrack. Founded by an amateur driver, Gianpiero Moretti, the company became known to the general public when, in 1964, Formula 1 driver John Surtees, driving a Ferrari and intrigued by the steering wheel installed on it, wanted to try it on his single-seater. It was a steering wheel with a thicker grip than normal racing steering wheels. Surtees' Ferrari equipped with the MOMO steering wheel was the car that, at the end of the championship, won the world title. It was then that Moretti decided to transform his passion into an industrial reality.
