Description : I quattro elementi
Etchings on paper applied to canvas. They are allegorical representations of the four elements - Earth, Water, Air and Fire, through mythological characters: Earth is represented by Cybele, Bacchus and Ceres; Air by Juno and Aeolus; Fire by Vulcan and his Cyclopes; Water by Neptune Galatea. The name of the engraver, Cristoforo Dall'Acqua from Vicenza, is given at the bottom right, while on the left is the name of the artist who painted the scenes, Louis de Boullogne (1654 -1733). The etchings are presented in a late 19th century frame.
