Description : Paesaggio con pastore ed armenti

Oil on canvas. Signed lower right "Pietro Cignarolo VF" (Veronensis fecit). In the center of a gentle and green landscape, with a castle on the right hill, a herd of sheep and cows passes on the path, with the mule carrying the load, and the shepherd boy following and guiding. The painting, already presented at the Lempertz auction in 2015 with an estimate of 6-8 thousand euros. Pietro Cignaroli was a Veronese landscape artist, who worked a lot in Milan as a collaborator of Pieter Mulier known as Cavalier Tempesta. The painting comes from the Banfi Collection, of Villa Banfi in Carnate, and has a paper inventory label no. 27 on the back of the frame. Restored and relined, it is presented in a late 19th century gilded frame.
