Description : Compianto su Cristo morto

Oil on canvas. The dead Christ lies stretched out on the ground, at the base of the scene, leaning with his shoulders on the legs of his grieving mother, while their two figures are framed by the disciples and the pious women in tears. The background of the scene is very dark, gloomy (the figures are probably placed at the entrance of a cave) to underline the drama, but on the right in the distance a ray of light is opening up in the sky, a prelude to the joyful event of the Resurrection of Christ. The painting, still on the first canvas, requires restoration due to small holes, paint loss and stains.
