Oil on canvas. The painting takes up older methods of landscape representation, proposing an imposing architectural structure of classical taste, placed in a landscape of a later era, as evidenced by the village on the hill behind the arched door. It therefore takes up that landscape painting, already in vogue in the Baroque period, which combined imaginary or real architectural elements in imaginative compositions, often with an accentuation of the perspective view. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in an ancient contemporary frame.
