Description : Compianto su Cristo morto

Oil on oak panel. Northern European school of the 19th century. Painted in a 17th century style, the painting features the figure of Mary holding the lifeless body of her Son, in a sorrowful composition that is also known as the Pietà. In this representation, the human dimension, maternal pain, prevails, lacking any hint of spirituality. The panel has been parqueted. It is presented in an early 1900s frame.
