Description : L' avenir de pierre
Ink on paper. Signed and dated lower right, where the title is also present. (The Stone Future). Lower left, the autograph dedication "A mon ami Osvaldo". This is a drawing by the artist who was one of the most important exponents of world surrealism, a poet and painter, but also a filmmaker, art and film critic, photographer and humorous illustrator. Since the end of the Sixties, Henry had settled permanently in Milan and had abandoned his activity as a humorous illustrator to devote himself almost exclusively to painting. However, he did not stop producing many drawings dedicated to friends and acquaintances, mainly in ink on paper, of a satirical/humorous nature. This drawing belongs to this production, which reveals the sure, linear and clean touch of Maurice Henry, and his satirical, albeit pessimistic, vision of a world that is evolving towards aridity. The work is presented in a visible frame.
