Description
Sculptural furniture by Venetian artist Livio De Marchi, also known as "The Carpenter of Venice". As a child, he worked on ornamental sculpture in a workshop while simultaneously studying art and drawing at the Academy. It was there that he began his career, quickly revealing an uncanny ability to shape materials, which translated into a sense of humor that drove him to create sculptures. His artistic evolution moved from marble to bronze, finally arriving at wood, which remained his favorite material; it imparted a vitality that other materials lacked. After profound evolution, his ironic grasp of life took over, leading to this new approach to sculpture. His works have been exhibited in various cities around the world, including Milan, Florence, London, Paris, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and more, and have been published in numerous design and architecture magazines. In 1990, he created his first "House of Books" a fully furnished architectural structure complete with every accessory, from furniture and accessories to clothing, all made entirely of wood. The work presented here is a small table with a sliding drawer covered with a tablecloth.
