Description : Vergine Immacolata con Gesù Bambino
Oil on canvas. Central Italian school, late 17th century. The model of this Immaculate Virgin, iconographically recognizable by the crown of stars and her feet resting on the moon to crush the tempting serpent, surrounded by angels, harks back to the works of Sebastiano Conca rather than Carlo Maratta, even in the presence of the Baby Jesus, who does not always accompany this figure of Mary. The painting was previously restored and relined, then remounted on a mid-20th-century wooden frame.
