The Sienese forgers
Features
Age: 20th Century / 1901 - 2000
Description
The Sienese forgers, tempera and gold on wood. The work is copy of Annunciation triptych (1410-1415) by Lorenzo Monaco, now kept at the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence. The painting is undoubtedly attributable to the work of Icilio Federico Joni (1866-1946) and the Group of his collaborators and followers, including Bruno Magona and Guido Nelli; You can infer it from the highest quality and the prodigious Executive ability of reproduction of the authenticity of the 15th-century paintings (for the peculiarities of wood: its wormhole patterns and the absence of side cuts, finesse and consistency of cretto, fairness in Executive punches, the different types of buttons and fake restorations and deficiencies). The table belongs to the most advanced phase of Joni, between the 20 's and 30 's of the ' 900.
