Description

David Teniers the Young (1610-1690), follower of. Oil on oak board. Twelfth night, the king drinks. Signed 'Teniers' in the lower right corner. The painting dates back to the 18th Century and it was made by a follower of Teniers. It resumes exactly the original painting made by the master, executed between 1634 and 1640, now housed in the Museo del Prado. Teniers' works were so successful that the several commissions of his paintings from royals and aristocrats during the 18th Century led to a posthumous production of copysts, many of whom used to sign with the artist's name. The painting was restored and subjected to a chronological expertise (available on request) that confirmed the old dating of both the painting and the coeval signature, dating it back to the 18th Century.
