Pencil on paper. Signed lower left; title lower right. On the back is a label from the Galleria Gian Ferrari in Milan, with the artist's name and title. Guido Tallone, son of Cesare Tallone, devoted himself mainly to portraiture in the first phase of his life. After the Second World War, his production also developed into genre scenes, portraits of objects dear to him or of his everyday life. His works are distinguished by rapid brushstrokes and bright, brilliant colours, strongly influenced by Impressionism. In this case, a pencil sketch of a dog is presented, called by name, and portrayed on the boat - of which only the bow is sketched - probably a companion on one of the artist's trips. Framed.

Crayons on cardboard. Signed and dated at the bottom; on the back there is a label from the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Verona, which auctioned off numerous works by the artist that it owned. The work is accompanied by the purchase invoice from that auction in 1951, with the title of the work. Of humble origins, the Veronese artist Angelo Dall'Oca Bianca, even once he had become an established and appreciated artist, frequenting the Italian and international artistic and cultural environment, always maintained a bond with his city, a constant source of inspiration for his artistic production, and a bond with its poor; in 1939 he built the Villaggio Dall'Oca in Verona, for the benefit of the city's poor, and in 1941 he made a will, leaving all his money and his paintings to the city of Verona for charitable works. His painting was always of a purely veristic nature, influenced above all by contact with Giacomo Favretto. The witch's cave shown here actually refers to a poor and degraded environment, where a female figure emerges from a dark room, wrapped in a cloak that gives her a mysterious air. The work is presented in a frame.

Mixed media on paper. On the back, the artist's stamp with signature, date and title (partially legible). Caccioni, an artist who was born, trained and still lives in Bologna, is one of the protagonists of a generation that has now reached a definitive linguistic maturity and occupies a prominent place within the contemporary artistic panorama. His research mainly uses unusual materials such as acetates, PVC and, more recently, stage backdrops from 19th-century theatrical works, on which he intervenes by painting shapes drawn from a personal memory and from suggestions coming from different cultures and historical periods. A recurring element in Luca Caccioni's work is writing, a self-signifying sign that designs the work and is capable of recounting thoughts; working by superimposition, the images are constructed by adding or subtracting color on the various supports. Work in frame.

Painting Madonna in Adoration of Baby Jesus

ARARPI0267008
Painting Madonna in Adoration of Baby Jesus

Oil on canvas. This is a good copy of the work by Antonio Allegri, known as Correggio (1489 -1534), created between 1518 and 1520, donated by the Duke of Mantua, Ferdinando Gonzaga, to the Grand Duke Cosimo II de'Medici, placed in the Tribuna degli Uffizi in 1617, where it remained until 1848. The subject of the painting had enjoyed a certain popularity in the fifteenth century through the works of Filippo and Filippino Lippi who had created several versions. The iconography derives from the vision of the birth of Jesus that Saint Bridget of Sweden had in Bethlehem in 1372. In her Revelations the Saint recounts that "the Virgin took off her sandals [...] knelt in a prayerful attitude, her hands stretched out in front and, suddenly, in an instant, she gave birth to her Son. The newborn baby suddenly appeared on the ground and an ineffable light radiated from him. When Mary felt that she had given birth to the Child, she greeted him with these words: Welcome, my God, my Lord and my Son”. A beautiful and sweet Madonna is depicted kneeling in front of the newborn Jesus, contemplating him with tenderness. The Child returns his mother's gaze, stretching out his little hand in a typically childish attempt to grasp her dress. Their intimate bond is underlined by the invention of placing the newborn on a corner of the mother's cloak. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a re-adapted antique frame.
