Featuring abundant illustrations of religious, historical, and cultural objects and documents, this book traces the history of Judaism during the medieval period, from the 11th to the early 16th century. Two major centers of Jewish culture emerged during the Middle Ages: that of the Ashkenazi Jews, concentrated in the Rhineland, particularly in Speyer, Worms, and Mainz; and that of the Sephardic Jews, located on the Iberian peninsula. Both of these traditional populations experienced a period of great cultural bloom between the 11th and 14th centuries, and the intellectual history and social life of European society as a whole were influenced significantly by Judaism during this era. This book focuses on the relationship between the two traditional Jewish groups and their non-Jewish environment, offering interesting insights into Jewish religious rituals and customs, the structure of Jewish communities, and the everyday lives of Jews. It also casts light on the work and influence of Jewish scholars in religion, philosophy, and other fields while emphasizing the contributions of medieval Jews to the development of European society and economy.

E. Pastorio View from S. Marco Oil on Canvas Italy XX Century

Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. The glimpse of the view is taken from a landing stage on the Grand Canal and is centered on the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute. The church with the bank on which it is located create a horizontal dividing line between sky and sea, shaded in the same chromatic ranges which are then interrupted only in the mooring in the foreground. Ezio Pastorio, originally from Cremona but transplanted to Valseriana after his studies, is considered "a great Italian master of the 20th century, who knew how to renew the artistic language of the landscape while maintaining a strong link with 19th century painting". His production is post-impressionist in nature, especially in the large landscape production that depicts the Po and Bergamo plains, the Venetian lagoon and some Parisian glimpses, admired during some travels. In his works, Pastorio creates suggestive atmospheres using infinite ranges of colours, which harmonize and sometimes even contrast, but always presented as a transparency which annuls the static nature of the representation and with a delicacy which expresses his devout religiosity towards nature and the created. The work, coming from a private collection, is presented in a frame.

Bronze sculpture depicting a little girl. Work entitled "Carolina" by Marcello Tommasi, Italian sculptor and painter of the twentieth century. The work is also found in Paris in "Square Gabriel Pierne". On the foot, the author's signature engraved and the creation date of the sculpture "1968". The sculpture represents a life-size naked girl. The torso hangs to the right and the hands are placed on the hips: the body thus forms a soft curve that makes the position of the character more feminine. Her hair is pulled back into a ponytail on the crown of her head. His face has a determined expression and his eyes are turned to the right, as if something is attracting his attention. Carolina could represent a cheeky, rebellious and proud girl, heedless of her nakedness.

Oil on canvas cardboard. Signed lower right. Immersed in the snow, the little country church appears along the path, at the foot of the Alpine mountain ranges. Landscape with Glimpse of Small Town

Oil on cardboard. Signed lower right. In Giuseppe Solenghi's extensive production, the urban landscapes of Milan or the glimpses of the Venetian lagoon prevail, but there are also various glimpses of the countryside, mainly from Lombardy. In this glimpse of the countryside, which from the top of a hill widens the gaze on the wide valley animated by small villages, framed by flowering trees, we find the exemplary pictorial technique of Solenghi which uses a rather material color but applied with quick brushstrokes, with delicacy of colors. The work is presented in a frame.
