Description : Giunone Regina dell'Aere
Painting belonging to the Italian Arte Povera movement, oil on canvas with engraving technique. The engravings prepared ad hoc to decorate furniture and objects developed especially in the Veneto region, between 1600 and 1700. They were rarely used in paintings. Among the most famous printers, there were the Remondini from Bassano, operating since 1620. Well-known artists such as Canaletto, Ricci and Tiepolo worked for them. The technique consisted in applying thin engravings on cabinets and cover them with a light transparent lacquer. The technique increased executive speed and lowered costs. Paintings made according to this technique are rare to find on the market. Our painting is large and presented in a lacquered coeval frame with a strong decorative effect. 18th century.
