After he studied in his hometown Modena, in 1924 Mario Vellani Marchi stayed in Burano after his debut at the Venice Biennale with some lithographs and etchings depicting landscapes. He came back to Burano many times and became friend with Guido Tallone and other artists. From this moment on, his beloved landscapes, figures and characteristic glimpses of the island (like this one) will become a recurring subject in his works. When he moved to Milan permanently, he approached also the publishing industry collaborating with newspapers and magazines and defining himself as painter, drawer, illustrator and attending the most important exhibitions, not only national ones. In the postwar period he collaborated also with La Scala Theater realizing many set designs. In frame.
