Watercolor on paper. Signed and located in La Spezia in the bottom left of the page. A native of Salerno, Loria studied in Naples, where he was distinguished for his mastery in the use of watercolour. In Naples, he settled after shot in long Europe, dedicating to the city and its surroundings in goal a wide production; in particular, became a much-sought-after landscapes depicting views of pompeii and reproducing the wall paintings extant in the ashes, rediscovered during archaeological excavations (Loria illustrated in the opera “The houses and monuments of Pompeii”, published in Naples in 1887), as well as the works, depicting exotic scenes of the flavor oriental or in eighteenth century costume.
