Description
White marble low-relief representig Mercy. The Virgin Mary is represented as a sore old woman; the cape with a geoetrical drapety covers her face; between her arms she is holding Jesus. At the bottom right there is a signature "G.Scalvini". Giuseppe Scalvini ( Milan 1908-2003) was trained at the company of his father, a plaster, and trought the evening couses at the Brera Academy. Since 1930s he hexibited is sculptures mada at the workshop that he opened in 1930s at St. Mac Mahon in Milan. During the following years he was very active for the prestijous commissions as theeagles made for the Centra Station of Milan. In 1999 he gave his personal collection to the civil administration of Desio and today the pieces ar preserved at the museum dedicated to him at the Cusani Tittoni Travesi Villa
