Description
Pair of bisque busts depicting Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI, resting on circular bases in glazed porcelain. In the lower part there is the trademark "S.40.", Attributable to the manufacture of Sèvres, in reference to the year of production (1840); “RG” monogram engraved on the back. In particular, the bust of the queen is attributed to the idea of one of the two Brachard brothers (Jean-Charles Nicolas or Jean.Nicolas-Alexandre), both active at the Sèvres factory between 1782 and 1827; an example of Marie Antoinette is kept at the National Museum of Ceramics Duca di Martina in Villa Floridiana, Naples.
Product Condition:
Item in good condition, with small signs of wear. Threaded rod replaced, signs of restoration on the bases.
