Description : Cappello
Pine wood sculpture. It is a typical sculpture by the Venetian artist Livio De Marchi, also known as "The Carpenter of Venice". Still a child, he worked on ornamental sculpture in an artisan workshop and, at the same time, studied art and drawing at the Academy. It is there that he begins his activity, immediately revealing an unusual ability to shape the material, which translates into an ironic sensitivity that pushes him to produce sculptures which, despite the perfection of detail, maintain the spontaneity of essence. In his artistic evolution he passes from marble to bronze, up to reaching wood which will remain his favorite material; it gives it a vitality that other materials do not transmit to it. After opening his own studio, De Marchi lets his imagination run wild by denouncing his inner world, his way of being. After profound evolutions, his ironic ability to grasp life takes over, to reach this new way of making sculpture. His works have been exhibited in various cities around the world including Milan, Florence, London, Paris, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, etc., published in many design and architecture magazines. In 1990 he created his first (of many later!) "House of books", an architectural structure completely furnished and equipped with every accessory, from furniture and its accessories, to clothing .... completely in wood! The hat proposed here has little damage on the edge of the brim.
