Description : Pescatori
Oil on hardboard. Signed lower right. The Venetian artist Alessandro Pomi devoted himself above all to marine landscapes and scenes with figures, particularly linked to Venetian life (fishermen, but also characters on the lido, strolling, in meeting places), as well as to the testimonies of the early cultural development of Mestre and the birth of institutions essential to public life, such as the theater and cinema. After his long stay in the United States - so much so that he was called the American painter of Mestre - Pomi's figures were influenced by modern American painting. His painting is characterized above all by the chromatic and light effects, which strike and highlight the figures and landscapes, giving them a corporeal expressiveness, despite the faces without somatic features. The work is presented in a frame.
