From a Work of B. Luti

Oil painting on canvas. The painting originates from the work of the same name created towards the end of the seventeenth century by the Florentine painter Benedetto Luti (1666 -1724), and currently preserved in the Museum of Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia (Lemme Collection) in Rome. The mythological scene depicts the two young protagonists on the seashore, on the beach of Naxos, in love and drunk: Bacchus, Roman deity of wine and the grape harvest corresponding to the Greek god Dionysus, and Ariadne, princess of Crete: The god indicates something to Ariadne in the distance in the sea, while in the sky you can see the constellation Corona, created by Bacchus in honor of Ariadne. This mythological theme was favored by Luti and was requested of him several times, as evidenced by his various replies, at least five notes, as well as the various copies made by other artists. Among these we can include ours, slightly larger than Luti's original, and with some small diversified details, according to the good practice of those who copied from a greater artist: in particular, the sailing ship of Theseus sailing towards the sea is not highlighted in our copy. the horizon, visible instead in Luti's canvas; The drapery on Arianna's body is different in shape and colour, as she also lacks the crown of flowers on her head. The work has been restored and relined. It is presented in a stylish frame.

Gilded bronze clock with polylobate base decorated with leafy and cyma mouldings patterns. 4 scrolls joined together with a central element embellished with frames and a garland support the clock case finelly chiselled and decorated with leafy pattern. On top of the case there are two flirting doves posed on rocks. The vise with H.ry Dasson signature has roman numbers for hours and arabic numbers for minutes scanned five by five; richly decorated hands. " Henry Dasson 1885" written on the base.

The Wayfarers 1910

Oil on cardboard. At the bottom left is the autographed inscription "Bozzetto per una copia", with the signature and the date Christmas 1910; the title at the bottom right. It is a sketch for a replica with variations of the homonymous painting made by Carena in 1907, large monumental (159 x 300 cm), exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1909 and now kept in the Civic Museums, Modern Art Gallery of Udine, Some moving figures appear in the work, precisely of wayfarers, representing the different categories of humanity, men and women, adults and children, old and young, but all traveling in the same direction. Compared to the original, in this sketch with still undefined facial features, the figures are placed in slightly different positions, with the young man wrapped in a red cloak in the center, and the lower part as well as the background are missing. The colors are almost harsh, lively, spread with rapid brushstrokes and with undefined contours. The painting belongs to Carena's still symbolist pictorial phase, inspired by the French symbolism of Eugène Carrière, a period which ended with his participation in the 1912 Biennale. The work is presented in a coeval frame.

Writing desk in rosewood supported by twisted uprights framing pinnacle turned elements, they rest on feet equipped with wheels, connected by a central crossbar padded in leather. In the undertop band there are two drawers, which can be opened from both sides, one of which has a liftable writing top with a leather insert. It features stamps “A. Blain, Liverpool ”in five different points.

Oil painting on canvas. Northern European school of the early 19th century. The painting, according to nineteenth-century taste, aims to propose more of a genre scene than a landscape: in fact, two figures stand out in the foreground, a man who is fishing with a line and a net, and a woman who looks at him sitting on a rock overlooking on the water, anxious about the outcome of the fishing, which will presumably guarantee the couple's meal. The surrounding landscape is that of a rocky coastal stretch, in a sea inlet overlooking a town on the other shore; a boat sails in the sea, of another you can only see the flagpole behind the rock. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a period frame, with several defects.

"Butterfield a Paris"

Leveller set square with plumb line, in gilded brass, signed “Butterfield a Paris”; there also is the inscription "pouces de Roy". Michael Butterfield (1635-1724) was an English watchmaker who moved to Paris around 1663, where he worked at the royal court and was appointed engineer by Louis XIV. He opened a shop of precision instruments, and specialized, in particular, in the production of sundials. Among his main customers is the Tsar Peter the Great, who also visited the workshop in 1717.
