Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. On the back is a declaration of authenticity signed by the artist. Giuseppe Migneco, originally from Messina but who moved to Milan at a young age, was one of the major representatives, together with Aligi Sassu, Renato Birolli, Bruno Cassinari, Renato Guttuso, of the Corrente group open to the European artistic avant-garde. In favor of a painting of social commitment, he investigates reality with a critical, objective, historical eye. His characters with hard, square faces, marked by hard work and rendered in bright and strong tones, recall his Sicily with violent and clear features, but also the social realism of the Mexican muralists. The work is presented in a frame.

The Eye Rounds in Space 1968

Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. On the back there is the title, the date and a further signature to authenticate the work. Painter, poet and essayist, Virgilio Guidi always maintained a solitary, critical position and never one of absolute programmatic adhesion to the aesthetic dictates of the artistic movements and groups of the 20th century, even if he was always the bearer of significant personal contributions to new pictorial research . Starting from the 1940s, Guidi began to systematically develop the great cycles, with which he repeatedly investigated the same subject-composition nucleus, continuing to follow the common thread of all his art: light. His painting favored the choice of delicate tonal chords and the representation of figurative and landscape elements through abstract rhythms. This work belongs to the series created in the 1960s of " Tondi", with the subtitle "Eye in space". It is presented in a frame.

There are four uprights with beast-like feet set over a mixtilineal burl veneered top. The feet in front are curved and carved woth leaf-like spirals and the heads of monstrous animals. The nails and teeth are made of horn, while the eyes are painted; the uprights in the back are inlaid with carob tree wood. Those support the under-the-top band, veneered in feather. The white marble top supports a tilting mirror supported by four lion-like feet, with nails in horn and carved with leonine faces. The big shell in the centre and a pair of dolphins complete the structure of the console.

Red Roses, 1945

Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. On the back of the frame there is the title and date. Angel Del Bon stood out for his peculiar technique, which involved the application of a consistent layer of zinc white on the canvas, subsequently proceeding with pure color mixtures and scrapings to let the preparation emerge from the background. Del Bon obtained works of absolute clarity and brightness, accentuated by the use of pastel shades, which characterized his paintings from 1933 onwards. He mainly painted Lombard landscapes; in 1941 he began the series of still lifes and flowers, to which this work belongs. Presented in a frame.

Face

Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. Ernesto Treccani, founder of the Treccani Institute, is remembered for his uninterrupted human and artistic commitment, characterized by a tireless action to spread culture and artistic debate, by a concrete adherence to life situations and by a profound love for men and things. All of Treccani's painting and art aim to break down the separation between himself and the world, between feeling and form, between the idea and imaginative expression. They have said of his art that it is "a search for the soul of things rather than their phenomenal consistency". This presented is one of the multiple faces painted by Ernesto Treccani, a population of faces painted over the course of over five years as a progressive addition and elaboration of nuclei of images, from time to time suggested by meetings, places, public and private occasions, experiences policies and work; all the faces are of people known to the artist: friends, family, comrades from the North and the South, depicted in an attempt to identify them and characterize them psychologically through colour. Work in frame.

Still Life

Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. On the back the title and declaration of authenticity signed by the artist. Saverio Terruso, a painter of essentially Mediterranean temperament, culturally and emotionally linked to his homeland, Sicily, includes among his production a wide range of works that aim to convey the authentic charm of a rural world that is now on the verge of disappear permanently; in them mainly rural characters are represented, such as farmers with caps, at work or in a restaurant, or melancholic women locked in their shawls, bent over their daily activities at home, or protagonists of processions. His painting is characterized by rather dramatic tones, with strong distorting tensions and very bright and often contrasting colours. This work proposes a less frequent subject, a still life, but retains the reference to peasant life in the choice to reproduce the vegetables typical of the peasant table (turnips, pumpkin, cabbage, garlic), in the characteristic style of Terruso, both in the chromatic choices than in the representative mode. The work is presented in a frame.

Painting Landscape with Ruins and Figures

Oil painting on canvas. Old-fashioned painting that takes up the forms of 17th-18th century painting, in particular it looks at architectural caprices, or landscape views with inserted architectural elements, remains or ruins that look to the classical world. Set along a sea coast, with figures of fishermen on their boats and commoners along the brambles, the painting is dominated by the remains of a temple, with tall columns and a golden statue on a high pedestal. The painting has a small drop of color in the center, and a scratch on the canvas on the left. It is presented in a contemporary carved wooden frame.
