Louis Vuitton Alzer 55 Suitcase Leather France 1970s-80s

The Alzer 55 rigid suitcase is one of Louis Vuitton's iconic models, still produced today and appreciated because it is spacious, robust and easy to handle. The interiors are lined in canvas, the finishes in lozine reinforced by brass rivets; brass is also used for the locks and the reinforcing plates on the corners. The two additional closures, inspired by the trunks of the Maison, are characteristic. Everything is original, including the central lock with fully functional mechanism and keys. Inside it has the authentic label bearing the unique number of the product (933996). It is produced with the famous Monogram canvas, a fabric characterized by stylized flowers and “LV” monograms, invented in 1896 by Georges Vuitton, son of Louis. The motif was perhaps created in homage to the neo-Gothic style, or as a product of Japanese cultural influence. The conditions are almost perfect, showing very slight signs of wear.

India ink on paper. Signed lower right. Accompanied by authentication on photo by his wife Matilde Sironi dated September 1963 and by certificate on photo from the JA PF archive. with number 030 and data of the work. Mario Sironi dedicated himself a lot to drawing and figure study, and his production includes many drawings, figure studies, sketches for subsequent paintings. All the power and expressive force of Sironi's bodies can already be seen in these drawings, whose mind, an incessant forge of ideas and projects often created on a large scale (he created numerous murals), often made use of makeshift paper supports to draw, even of small dimensions, on which he traced, in just a few centimetres, large projects, provocative ideas and poetic images. The theme of war was extensively addressed by Sironi following his active participation in the entire First World War. The work comes from an important Milanese private collection. It is presented in a frame.

Contemporary Drawing Melotti 1972 Pencil on Paper Abstract Subject

Pencil on paper. Signed on the back. The drawing is registered in the Fausto Melotti Archive, with code DIS 72016. Fausto Melotti was a multifaceted and very prolific artist and it is almost impossible to link his production to a particular technique or theme, without providing only a partial view of his vision artistic. The salient features that are constant in Melotti are geometry, the study of abstraction, which leads him to use realistic but not scientifically accurate elements, and arranging the elements so that they recall a musical rhythm, a detail that refers to his training as a musician Sculptor, painter, musician, poet, he made numerous design drawings for his works. Drawing represented for him a fundamental exercise, to transfuse the original graphic trait from sheets of paper into sculptures and ceramics. The sculptures for which he is best known are made up of geometric elements made with metals (brass, iron and gold) worked into thin filaments, giving life to ethereal, weightless and almost fragile compositions. The work is presented in a frame.

Copy from Ingres

Oil painting on canvas. It is a 20th century copy of the famous work by the master of Neoclassicism Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780 -1867), created between 1820 and 1856, and currently kept in the Louvre Museum in Paris. The work, which depicts one of the subjects most loved by Ingres, who often painted figures of young women dressed as odalisques and poses as Venuses, sees a young naked woman standing inside a rock structure that houses her. A jug rests downwards on her left shoulder, and from its opening a stream of water is born which pours down, flowing into the mirror of water which reflects the image of the woman. At the young woman's feet, two flowers appear, to the right and to the left, while a branch of ivy clings to her figure on the rock. Faithful in the compositional structure to the original work, this painting is also made with a decidedly twentieth-century pictorial style, due to the broad brushstrokes, the poorly defined contours, the earthy colors that give an almost monochrome impression. The work is presented in a coeval gilded frame.

Palma de Mallorca

Mixed technique on canvas. Signed lower right, titled on the reverse. Starting from the 1950s, the artist Bogoni devoted himself mainly to landscapes, of Liguria but also of other localities known to him. Here is a glimpse of a street in Palma de Majorca, enlivened by numerous sketched figures and a gig. In the chromatic choices, rich in nuances, Bogoni proposes an analysis of the emotions and feelings that nature and the environment transmit to him. The work is presented in a frame.
