Antique Painting R. Borgognoni Countryside Oil on Hardboard 800-900

Forest Landscape

Oil on wooden board. Signed lower left. Specializing in landscape painting, the painter Romeo Borgognoni mainly depicted glimpses of the Pavia countryside, in a style which, although with realist rigor, draws on impressionism for its bright and vibrant brushstrokes. Here too a glimpse of the wooded countryside of the Pavia area is presented, with a small stream that winds among the plants. The work is presented in a gilded frame from the late 19th century.

Surrealist Figures

China ink on paper. Signed lower right. On the back is an art gallery stamp and the title 'Conciliabula' in pencil. Painter, scenographer, costume designer, writer, illustrator and draughtsman, Leonor Fini has said of her works: ""All my painting is a spell in an autobiography of affirmation that expresses the pulsating aspect of being; the real question is to transpose the sense of play onto canvas." Leonor Fini has created a painting that is "figurative in the signifier and abstract in the signified": she never abandons the figures, but elaborates her own pictorial modality that, taking different forms, incessantly stages her own self. The definitive code and mark of the essence of her painting lie in the search in the inner, dreamlike world of the meaning of femininity. In dreamlike or nightmarish atmospheres, the female figure conquers a space of its own, emphasised by the Finnian myths that always accompany it: cats, sphinxes, winged women, flower-women, angels, witches, medieval ladies and Amazons and priestesses, fairies and devils, skeletons, defenceless males and guardians. This drawing also features three female figures, recognisable in form but abstract in definition, standing in conciliation, as suggested by the title, which is intended to emphasise the mystery and perhaps the illicit nature of their encounter. The work is presented in a frame.

Pastels on cardboard. signed lower left. The Ticino painter and illustrator Luigi Rossi specialized in genre scenes in a social context, which made him appreciated, characterized not so much by a desire for an explicit social denunciation, but rather by a melancholy and nostalgia for a peasant world that has now disappeared. Furthermore, he also created landscapes and various portraits: his intense devotion to his family and particular attention to children translated in the early twentieth century into a sequence of portraits of his daughter, in different stages of life. This portrait of a young girl could also be part of this series, portraying her teenage daughter. The work is presented in a contemporary frame.

Oil painting on canvas. Signature, date and title lower right. On the back there is the artist's handwritten writing "Portrait of Rossana Bossaglia with the background of Piazza Meda in Milan". This is the well-known Italian art historian and art critic Rossana Bossaglia (1925 -2013), who Edoardo Salvestrini places, according to his style, in an absolutely real city environment but evoked by his gaze, which although meticulous in its descriptive details , envelops what it describes in an atmosphere that smacks of the past, of historical distance, of memories drawn from memory. The work is presented in a frame.

Contenmporary Photo Exhibition of B. Aubertin 2010 Contemporary Art

Photograph. Autographed by Aubertin on the back. The shot was taken on the occasion of the performance "Fuoco controllato" performed by the artist on 27 November 2010 at the Milan premises of the Cooperativa Di Mano in Mano. It portrays the master as he creates one of his performances, carried out from the 1980s to the 1990s, in which he himself set fire to pianos or cars: these performances were born as a result of his interest in the element fire, considered the physical manifestation of the colour red, a colour that had already become central to his works since the 1960s. Aubertin is in fact considered the 'monochrome painter': from 1958 onwards he started to create his famous red monochrome canvases, the so-called Tableaux Feu (fire paintings), animating them with various elements, with nails (Tableaux Clous), iron wire (Tableaux Fil de Fer), matches (Parcours d'Allumettes) and various materials, from candles to iron nets. In his metaphysical conception of painting, through red he intended to transpose the energy of the soul, the spiritual being, onto the canvas. In the last years of his production, the red colour of the monochromes was replaced by white, black and gold, but Aubertin always worked on monochromes. The photograph is presented in a frame.
